What is a Library of Things?
The Library of Things is a collection of borrowable items that are not in traditional library formats. They can be picked up at the library. They must be returned to the service desk from which they were borrowed.
Yard Games
- Yard Games are borrowable for two weeks with an adult card.
- Check out and return them to the Information Desk on the Lower Level.
Board Games
- Board Games are borrowable for two weeks with any card.
- Check out and return them to the Circulation Desk on the Main Level.
Library Media Players
- Library Media Players are borrowable for three weeks with one renewal – just like library media such as audiobooks on CD, music CDs, and DVDs.
- Check out and return them to the Circulation Desk on the Main Level.
Mobile Hotspots
Need wifi for two weeks? Our mobile hotspots provide wireless internet for multiple devices wherever you have a cell signal. The hotspots work with computers, tablets, phones, and streaming devices like Roku.
- Hotspots are borrowable for 2 weeks with an adult card. You can reserve them in advance.
- Check out and return them to the Circulation Desk on the Main Level.
- If hotspots are not returned by the due date, the wifi service will be shut off until the hotspot is returned. If hotspots are returned in the book drop, your account will be charged a $10 fee.
Library Use Laptops
Webcam-enabled laptops are available for use within the Library building. They can be borrowed at the Information Desk on the lower level.
- Use your library card to check out the laptop and charger. If you don’t have a library card, you can leave a photo ID at the desk.
- You can use the laptop anywhere in the building.
- Return the laptop prior to closing time.
Handheld Video Magnifier
- A Ruby handheld video magnifier is available for use within the building. Borrow it from the Information Desk on the Lower Level.
Canal Trail MacBook
If you want to learn about the Farmington Canal Trail, you can borrow a Macbook that features images and facts relating to its history. Borrow the laptop from the Information Desk on the Lower Level for use within the library.
